Last May 17, Project PEARLS held its first Scholarship Program Town Hall meeting for the year! PEARLS education champions got to know more about the program and were given a chance to share their experiences as sponsors. We also invited three of our alumni scholars to share their scholarship journey. For them, the scholarship program provided more than just material assistance; they were given a chance to continuously better themselves as future leaders of the community.
Elizabeth, one of our partners, recognized that children are not at fault for the poverty that they are experiencing. Thus, she believed that as sponsors, they must support the scholars and constantly remind them, to give them reassurance that they are never alone in their journey.
Our corporate partners from OpenText, Think Human Fund, and Tala Financing shared their appreciation for the program. The scholarship program gave them a chance to pay it forward. From a day of volunteerism, they are able to actively participate in initiatives that make lasting impact.
Our partners from LDS Charities shared how they see the potential of the scholarship program. For Bro. Joel, giving the gift of education teaches children perseverance, which echoes across generations.
Indeed, it takes a village to raise a child. With the support of education champions and advocates, we are determined now more than ever to journey with our scholars towards holistic development.
