Say, ‘Hi!’ to our new batch of scholars in Helping Land!

For this day, our PEARLS Scholars were divided per their school year level and then section.

Before that, a brief orientation for the volunteers was held first. In here, Jedda, our After School Program coordinator explained today’s activity.

300 kids then entered our courtyard. After the short prayer, then sing and dance, feeding of the children was followed. Our volunteers assisted the kids assigned to them.

After the feeding, kids were then told to exit the courtyard and the verified scholars will come in again. They were wearing an identification card as a proof that they are scholars.

The kids were then divided according to their year level and section. Each section consisted of four to five students.

Volunteer- teachers handled each grade level and section and were told to build rapport with their students. They have got to know the kids and explain to them the meaning of their sections. A short discussion of their sections was their next activity.

After the “getting to know more stage” of the teachers and their students, they created a short cheer for their class and presented it. Through this activity, they were engaged with their section and they’ve got to embrace it.

What a great start for the opening of their “real class” in school!

We in After School Program aim to improve the class standing and grades of our scholars. We are here to help them with their academics.

Next week we will be having a pre-test so we may know the weak points of our students and focus on improving it.

Thank you, Ariel Jun Wallang, family and friends for sponsoring today’s food for the kids. Thank you also to Carol Maralit and Joey Rico for the “taho” for the kids and volunteers!

God bless you all.

After the whole activity, volunteers then had a meeting with regards to our future plan for ASP. After the two Sundays’ pre-test of the kids, we will then start the class tutorial and we will focus on the students who need more attention with regards to the subjects they are weak.

What we wanted is to help one child at a time in improving his or her academic grades.

Join us for we need more volunteer-teachers. You don’t have to be a teacher by profession. Just a teacher by heart who cares and have time for these wonderful children would be more than enough.

Volunteer. Advocate. Share. Love.

When? The time is now.
