Last April 12, PEARLS kids created their Puno ng Pang-asa (Tree of Hope) for their Brain Booster Activity in observance of April as Hope Month. Through this activity, PEARLS kids created their own trees with flowers and leaves containing their dreams and moments they are thankful for. It is a way of teaching children that dreams come true through hard work and the support of their families and communities.
Norma, one of our scholars and an active participant in the Brain Booster activity, shared how the Puno ng Pag-asa made her feel hopeful that day. “Sana gumaling na ang lola ko,” “mahal ko si mama,” and “I love teacher” were the words she added to her tree. She describes herself as being like the treeL growing magnificently, strong, and steadfast. Someday Norma says she wants to support others.
This session reminds us that dreams are not meant to be achieved alone. Indeed, it takes a village to raise a child.
