Great teaching starts with great training!
Our TTL teachers and coordinators attended a session titled “Assessment in Early Childhood Education: Observations, Portfolios, and Learning Stories“. The session covered the definition of assessment and the methods used to conduct it. It also explored the nature of children, highlighting the differences between assessing a four-year-old child and an adult.
Furthermore, the principles and characteristics of assessment were discussed—specifically, that it should be continuous, child-centered, systematic, and responsive. The session also addressed who should conduct the assessment and the qualities required of an assessor; it emphasized the need for the assessor to know what and where to observe, which tools to use, and how to get started.
Cheer them on — follow along for more stories from our classrooms!
