“One of the most amazing things about mathematics is the people who do Math aren’t usually interested in application, because Mathematic itself is a beautiful art form. It’s structures and patterns, and that’s what we love, and that’s what we get off on.”
-Danica McKellar

Today’s lesson is Math – with a twist! Most of us consider Math as a hard subject but not today for our PEARLS Scholars. Instead, they really had a good time learning about Math while playing dice.
Each teacher was assigned to handle two to three kids and was given three “Math dices”. These dices will determine the Math problem that the kids will solve.

“Not just the students had fun today, even I as their teacher also enjoyed today’s Math lesson despite the difficulty of this subject. I was able to get their attention and had them engaged with our session. Special mention of thanks to the colorful dices and marshmallows. Every time they get correct answers, marshmallows were given to them as a reward. Today was a nice Sunday of learning! I hope that this will be kept up!”, Teacher Dee, one of ASP’s regular volunteer-teachers said.
Thank you, Teacher Dee, for your hard work and dedication!

We are also grateful for this day’s feeding sponsor who also enjoyed Math Time with the kids, Ms. Shiela De Leon-Tracey! Thank you, Ms. Shiela, for doing your annual ‘Paper and Pen’ outreach activity with Project PEARLS!
And thank you, volunteer-teachers!
