Project Pearls After School Program

Helping Land, Tondo, Manila
“They inspire you, they entertain you, and you end up learning a ton even when you don’t know it.”
~Nicholas Sparks, ‘Dear John’
This day was special not only for our PEARLS kids but for volunteer-teachers as well.
As declared by the Department of Education (DEPED), National Teacher’s Month was from September 5 up to October 5, 2016. This celebration was held to honor and appreciate our hardworking mentors, educators, faculties, motivators and second parents at school.
So for this day, our scholars in Helping Land Tondo honored their teachers. They created “Thank you” cards for them!
But before that, our morning routine was not forgotten.
Orientation for the volunteers:
The preparation of food and learning and art materials for this day:
And then the opening prayer when the kids finally entered our courtyard.
We should never forget to thank our Creator for all the blessings we received and ask for guidance from Him.
The sing and dance activity were once again happily joined by our energetic kids and volunteers.
Our sponsor for this day was Miss Jessica Arnaldo. She chose to celebrate her special day with the kids together with some of her friends and family!
Thank you so much Miss Jessica and happy birthday!
She gave a short inspirational message for our kids. She wished them to be good in school and encouraged them to be always kind, polite and to never stop dreaming of a better life.
That is also our dream for the kids and we will never stop this mission until they are be able to achieve it.
Feeding activity then followed where the volunteers assisted the kids assigned to them per table or per group. Thank you so much to our hardworking volunteers for being tireless of sharing some love and care!
When the children were done eating, the next activity was the teaching proper.
Each volunteer handled two to three kids to teach.
It was still Reading Time wherein the students read and comprehend poems. The poems they read were all about teachers who had so much passion and dedication with their works!
As Confucius once said, “When you love your job, you will never have to work in a day.”
Teaching may be quite hard. But when we think of kids learning from us, the feeling is just so overwhelming that we wished to teach more minds and transform more lives for the better.
After the reading and comprehension, it was then Art Time!
We let the kids think of their favorite teachers. This will serve as their inspiration in creating “Thank You” cards for them!
Just like what we are expecting, kids produced colorful cards for their teachers!
Once again, thank you so much Miss Jessica for being our sponsor for today. And thank you also to all our hardworking volunteers every Sunday morning who are teachers by heart.
Join us and feel the love!
Volunteer now. Advocate. Give. Share. Love.
