Art Story Summit in Helping Land – April 4 to 8 , 2016

“Our school break art and story summit continues in the Philippines with our partner Project Pearls. Girls and women of all ages are creating life river maps that use shapes, patterns, symbols and words to tell the stories of their lives. One of the younger girls was moved to tears of joy, saying that the activity allowed her to relive happy memories with her mom and grandmother. A Moms LitClub member drew a pattern of butterflies, with one different from the rest to represent all of the friends that she has, and the way she feels vibrant, special and happy in the midst of her great friendships.”

The beautiful life river books that the girls and boys of Project PearlsLitClubs have created during their school break art summit are a joy to behold.
Tina Villadolid, a talented teaching artist and LitWorld family member, supported children in mapping out the important moments in their lives.

They chose symbols from nature, words, colors and lines to represent where they are from, where they are now, and their vision for the future.

They shared their finished books with their community at an art installation lit with illuminated words.

Thank you to LitWorld and extra big warm fuzzier to Tina for bringing out the artists in our children!
