“Time. It is the most valuable commodity that we will ever have in our lives. For many of us… we are blessed with the ability to pick and choose how we use our time. I really believe that one of the greatest things we can do is use our time to try and share positive moments with the world around us.
A few weeks ago I was messaged by one of my followers Hilary about an organization called Project Pearls (www.projectpearls.org) that is operating in an area of Manila called “Helping Land” in Tondo. This morning… I used my time to go and check it out.
Best decision of the month.
I spent the morning just interacting, having fun, educating, and playing with tonnes of kids who came for a morning “After School Program”.
Imagine… these kids literally live amongst garbage. For many, it is where their food comes from, where they would play, and what their lives are surrounded by. But wow… What I saw this morning was beyond admirable, and inspirational. Volunteers from Project Pearls were spending their time interacting and educating with these children. Having worked with thousands of kids in recreational programs around the world…
I could see the positive affect this organization was having.
The politeness of the kids. How inspired to learn they were. Their confidence and interaction. How quick to pick up and learn things they were (in the bottom of the photo you will see me teaching them how to make headbands… they picked it up so fast and were able to make their own! Ayus!)… I have so much respect and admiration for what Project Pearls does!
What do they do!?
“Project PEARLS main mission is to help the children get out of poverty and to enable them to achieve their dreams. To do this, we give them opportunities through scholarship grants and educational resources. Educating the children will allow them to have a better future, thus, breaking away from the vicious cycle of poverty.”
But not only that….
They FEED the kids with daily feeding programs as well. We all know you can’t learn with an empty stomach! If you have some extra time or resources… I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you look into Project Pearls. This will not be my last experience with them, and will not be my last post about this.
Have a beautiful day… Only a few hours of your time can make a positive difference in the lives of others… thanks to these kids who made a positive difference in mine. I will see them again soon!
