La Mesa Nature Reserve

As still part of the 6th anniversary celebration of Project Pearls, our founder, Miss Melissa Villa had a “crazy” idea once again of how we should celebrate it. And that is by giving back to our Mother Earth.

So the tree-planting was planned and executed.

One rainy Sunday morning at La Mesa Nature Reserve Park in Quezon City, 60 Project Pearls volunteers were already in there to plant 400 Narra tree seedlings. Yes, it was just 400. What a small thing!

The rain was still on duty that it didn’t bother to stop, but then we were all so eager to go on with our mission for that day. We care less for the continuous wetting of everything around us. Thanks to the power of our yellow raincoats and boots that made our life easier and continue that tree-planting activity.

This made us realized that we need more trees to prevent floods all over Manila. Because as we can experience by now, everywhere in the Metro we go, just a few rain, and floods everywhere will follow. That going to the place we wanted to go or must go is a very hard thing and the best struggle we could ever had in a day. Hello, traffic! Hi, zero public utility vehicles!

Planting a tree also made us feel that a living legacy from us may exist.

Thank you so much for this very wonderful experience, ‘Pounder’!

Maybe all of us sulk in water from the sky but then we all feel the importance of what we did for this day and that made us also feel so satisfied and complete.

Just like the trees we planted, we hope that all the kids we are helping will bloom into the best that they can be.

We shall live long to our mission and that is helping the poorest of the poor families in the Philippines by providing them food, education, medical assistance, time, love and care and many more. Way to go, Project Pearls!

HAPPY 6th ANNIVERSARY!

This is a kind of event worth spending for no matter how long it is.
