After School Program May 15, 2016: “My Favorite Subject”

What is your favorite school subject and why?

This was just one of the questions our volunteer teachers asked their students for this day.

After the feeding activity, a storytelling was held and was led by Kuya Aman. The title of the story was, Ang Mahiyaing Manok. This was about a young rooster who cannot crow as good and as loud as the others so he spent most of his time sulking. He felt that he was worthless but at the end of the story, he realized that he was not that useless than he thought. We taught the students the moral of the story and that is don’t be afraid or too shy to show what you’ve got. Everyone has their own talent and uniqueness that somehow others can look up to.

And then our PEARLS kids created book markers out of colorful popsicle sticks. Volunteers were told to assist and make a rapport with the kids while doing the said artwork. Teachers may get to know more about their students by asking some questions regarding their personal lives.

As for the tasked artwork, volunteers may also ask the students their favorite subjects. And they may write these subjects on the popsicle sticks artistically. Some cut-out designs can also be glued to the sticks.

Printed pictures from Mother’s day photoshoot last week were also distributed for the kids as their souvenirs.

Loot bags with snacks were also given to the kids as take home gifts. Another day has passed that kids went back to their homes happily.
